Bei allen Vorzügen der metallenen Böhmflöte: Holzflöten haben den wärmeren Klang! Allerdings muss eine Holz-Böhmflöte sehr sorgfältig gepflegt werden. Und sie ist wegen den dauernden, wenn auch sehr kleinen Massveränderungen des Korpus etwas unzuverlässig. Ein Kompromiss ist ein Kopfstück aus Holz, das auf eine bestehende Metallflöte gesteckt wird. Theobald Böhm selbst hat solche Kopfstücke angeboten und diese Variante gegen Ende seines Lebens für sich sogar bevorzugt. |

With all the advantages of the metal Boehm flute: wooden flutes posess the warmer sound! However a wooden flute has to be cared for diligently. And it is because of the permanent changes of dimensions, although very small, somewhat unreliable. A compromise is a wooden headjoint put on an existing metal flute. Theobald Boehm himself offered such headjoints and preferred this variant towards the end of his live for himself. |

Ein Teil der Wirkung besteht darin, dass die Obertöne anders über den gesamten Tonumfang verteilt sind, in Richtung des Klangs der alten Traversflöte. Damit werden die Register besser voneinander unterscheidbar (oder modern gesagt: 'unausgeglichener'), und die ältere Musik, die mit solchen Instrumenten rechnet, klingt sofort interessanter. |

Part of the effect comes from the different distribution of the harmonics over the whole range, much in direction of the old traverse flute. Therewith the registers are discernable better from each other (or more 'unbalanced' from a modern point of view), and the older music sounds more interesting as it counts on such instruments. |

Holz und Metall vertragen sich auf Länge schlecht, und oft reissen Instrumente an den Verbindungsstellen, auch bei sorgfältigster Behandlung. Deswegen baue ich meine Kopfstücke mit herausnehmbarem Verbindungsteil. |

Wood and metal do not go together well on the long run, and often such instruments crack at the connections, also with most diligent treatment. This is why I build my headjoints with a removable connencting joint. |

Zu Beginn der Bauphase (bei Bestellung) benötige ich das Mass des Abstands von der Mundlochmitte zum Anfang des Mittelstücks beim für Sie spielbereiten Instrument (in mm.). In der letzten Bauphase benötige ich Ihr Instrument in meiner Werkstatt. Für beste Resultate muss die Polsterung in bester Ordnung sein. Hilfreich kann die angabe des genauen Typs Ihrer Flöte sein. |

At the beginning of the building (at order time) I need the distance from the middle of the mouthhole to the beginneing of the middle joint of the instrument ready to be played by You (in mm.). Towards the end of the buildung I need Your instrument in my workshop. For best results the padding has to be in best order. The exact Type of Your flute can be helpful. |
